Exam Fever??
Yesterday's newspaper headline ( TOI... Students fail health test, but cram on) caught my eye and set me thinking.
If a child does listen to his doctor's advice then he allows himself to stay back and lose a year. But does society allow him that liberty? We will be the first to dismiss him with a failure/loser tag. Man is supposed to be the most intelligent mammal but how he stumbles and falls by the very things he creates.
He created the cigar and cigarette and now he is trying his best to kick the habit. He created caste and color discrimination and is now floundering to get out of it. Take our present education system itself, we are the ones who have created the pressures, the numbers game and are now struggling hard to fight stress, trauma and turmoil in our lives. Running the rat race of life we have ceased to be human beings, our children don't have names any more, they are identified by a number or percentage to be more precise.
Disregarding medical advice putting their health on hold children are
studying to get that life making / breaking magic number which will get them into the college of their choice, where they will again slave or by hook or by crook, get the desired numbers, again, to join the mainstream rat race and run, after numbers again. Higher the number of notes they earn the richer / successful they get in life. The circle just goes on and on.

I really agree with you. This is the kind of atrocious situation happening to most of them here.

Rita First school then college & then professional career...rat race is here to stay. Its up to us parents to listen to our children and then guide them suitably with care and understanding. After all even Sachin and Schumacher are products of number crunching vis a vis runs and speed resp. So one can''t do away with numbers totally but just turn them around to ones advantage. Cheer up! Life has a way of sorting itself out with a little prodding from us...don''t worry.

I don know how far is it true. i agree to the idea of avoiding over pressure for studies but one has to prove himself....the "two people who are there for what ever marks he or she brings back home" these two people don't promise a life long standing for the child ...the child has to grow into a grown up who has to handle the world and then his own family....if he doesn't prove himself now no one will be there to be with him to handle that frustration.....i don't say over pressure your child or compare your child but u cannot let them be the way they are because at their age who wants to study and who understands the value of it..... i don't disagree with rita''s view but i will like to add on this to it
