Reflections on motherhood

My mother flashes to my mind when I look back about my memorable childhood days. Today I am a married women with a child who is 18 months old. Since my motherhood I have come to realise this emotion, which cannot be described in any language better than Hindi called ''mamta''. My mother has always been a working lady and since we had a joint family system I look back to remember that her chores never used to end. But despite all the hard work she always managed to carry her vitality with her and smiled in all she did. I guess perhaps from that her strength came... Amongst the many things she taught me one most important thing has been TO DO FOR OTHERS BEFORE WE DEMAND FROM THEM and that UNTIL WE VALUE MONEY, MONEY WILL NEVER VALUE US. These twin preaching has been my guiding star and today too as a married women I often refer to them for solace and guidance when I am faced with unpleasantness. Looking at my child I often think of her and the innumerable sleepless nights she must have spent to rear me up, every time I feel lazy to rise when my young child wakes me up in the middle of the night because he wants to play or watch the POGO channel!!!
