Of Eating and eateries…
I’m sure most people will agree, that before marriage, the three most oft’ repeated words are “ I love you”. What happens after marriage? In my case I can definitely say, the three most repeated words are now “ Lets eat out!”
With my limited culinary skills, I am happier eating out! Luckily I don’t have a fussy husband, or perhaps on second thoughts, he probably prefers eating out than subjecting himself to my culinary experiments!
I hate the thought of chopping, peeling, cooking and then that huge pile of dishes staring at you! Every morning I stare at the refrigerator, wondering what to cook. After a few minutes, I decide, it’s easier to eat out! I guess the eating-out-industry thrives on people like me!
Eating out has also become a lot easier today. New speciality restaurants open up almost every day! Nothing to beat the famous combination that defies definition…Indian, Tandoori, Chinese….I often wonder how on earth did they arrive at this peculiar Asian combination!
Then there was this little Gujarati eatery we strayed into, and as we polished off the sumptuous meal, the restaurant owner walked up to us and politely asked “ Are you fully fed up?”. Needless to say, we were at a loss for a reply…
These days even petrol bunks are boasting of eateries, tucked away in a corner. I chanced upon one which had this huge hoarding saying “Eat here, while you get gas”. Of course, I never took that chance!
Haven’t you strayed into restaurants that have tickled your funny bone more than the taste buds? I remember “ Malai Gupta” listed as top of the line in the “north Indian dishes” section of the menu. Mr. Gupta, are you listening? What about eateries that pride themselves on “vegetable pups”….I ventured to ask the innovative waiter whether he had any “vegetable kittens” also, but was greeted with a totally blank stare!
If you look for humour, there’s plenty to be found, when one eats out! In fact, eating out has become so popular over weekends, that I truly wonder whether anyone cooks at home anymore, over weekends!

I think that you are not fully correct in this matter. I also enjoy eating outside but only once in a month. It is very boring to eat daily outside, once in a while is okay.
