Cyberbullying
2007 saw a steep rise in cyberbullying both inside and outside the school campus. The role of the teacher is now to warn children of not exposing themselves too much on the net because they can either be bullied or blackmailed. Studies indicate that it affects young adults and children more than old fashioned, physical bullying. It was found that people who responded to invitations from strangers on the net and accepted them, received abusive calls and although they knew where they were coming from, they were unable to do anything because they had invited trouble!
24 hour bullying
Cyberbulling is either through e mail, telephone, mobile, SMS or social networking systems and therefore the victim is exposed to the bullying 24 hours a day! It has a negative impact on the emotional and intellectual lives of children and therefore it is mandatory that teachers explain the risks the child is putting herself to in getting in touch with total strangers. If you are a teacher, help your students now!
