Business Idea Generation Skill
An Idea rules the world, an idea is the beginning of everything a chance coming
your way for doing anything worthwhile or to take advantage of, it is the
beginning of reality. We live by ideas, it is the creation of a fertile and
imaginative mind. Wise people create their own ideas for themselves. You do not
have to wait and wait for an idea you just create them by programming your mind
to create ideas. Simple ideas create fortunes. Just a simple idea can change
the entire course of your life. Ideas are progress, improvement and money. It
cost you nothing but they can win you millions. A person generates a dozen of
ideas everyday without even realizing it. Ideas often present themselves at odd
moments it does not come to you at your time. Every time you solve a problem it
involves an idea. If you keep you eyes and mind opened ideas for business can
be from any source or any person or any place at any time. Therefore always
keep a note pad and pen to write down ideas. Create an idea file. Back ideas
with faith and they will shape your destiny in an affirmative way.
A
Business idea is a business seed, which expands and grows into a business tree.
A business idea can emerge from technical source, (within the company) or from
the market source (outside the company).
Business Ideas from Technical Source:
Generally
new ideas are generated within the company. They are generated by
(a) The engineers working in the production department (b) the scientists
working in the Research and Development department (c) the field staff who may
get new ideas while solving problems. Generally these ideas relate to the new
methods to be adopted for production, new product design and new machinery,
etc.
Business
Ideas from Market Source:
Generating
ideas from market sources can be done through Brainstorming, Reverse
Brainstorming which is similar to brainstorming except that criticism is
allowed here, interviewing consumers, checklist method in which a new idea is
developed through a list of related issues or suggestions, maintain a small
notebook that easily fits in the pocket and record ideas during the day and at
the end of the month a list of the best ideas is developed, scientific methods
which includes principles and processes, conducting observations and
experiments and validating the hypothesis, Big dream approach in which case the
entrepreneur dreams about the problem and its solution - thinking big, by
creative listening this is an essential feature of group behavioral technique-
most people in business are taught to talk, very few are taught to listen.
From the
above we have seen that the starting point for any successful new venture is
the basic product or service to be offered. An idea can be either generated
internally or externally through various techniques. Some techniques are
structured while others are designed. The sources of new ideas range from the
comments of consumers to changes in government regulations and evaluation of
competitors' products. Entrepreneurs can pick up new venture ideas by
observation also. Once the idea or group of ideas is generated, the planning
and developing processes begin. If more ideas emerge, they must be evaluated
and screened.
Opportunity
Identification Skill
All
ideas do not have the potential to become opportunities. An opportunity in a
business sense, is an idea that has commercial potential so that you can make
money, develop a business or create value. Turn your business idea having
commercial potential into your business opportunity and turn a business
opportunity into a great business concept that you can test in the market
place.
