some of Class Schedule - Monthly LIVING ROOM In any home the living room calls for special attention since it is the room in which the family will spend time together and visitors will be entertained. It should be done up in pleasing colours and sturdy fabrics. After making the floor plan we should make a list of what we already own and what we have to buy. We should keep this point in view that our guest would stand at the entrance to get his first view of the room. So we should plan accordingly. We might decide to furnish this room more formally in Mughal or Rajasthani style. Then the colour scheme, curtains rugs and furniture as well as accessories including wall hangings and table lamps should be of same period. Too much of identical furniture pieces in any room can make the room monotonous. So two identical chairs in one room will be enough. On exceptionally fine sofa or wall furniture rises in the tone of entire living room to a higher level. One comfortable sofa and few chairs fulfill the basic needs of a living room. Then we need end tables at each end of sofa and at the sides of the chairs. These tables should be as high as arm of sofa. Sometimes we can put table lamps on these tables. Then the next furniture needed in living room is a coffee table, which should be large with preferably a shelf-underneath. This coffee table should be a bit lower than the seat of sofa. In some houses television, Music system and CD player are installed in living room. Installing of these three can be done in many ways. All these different units can be installed in built-in-cabinets. These cabinets should be made within a wall area, which can include a book-area as well as a small bar. Usually most of the books are 8" wide but some are even up to 12". CD s needs 6" to 8" deep shelves. So this should be kept in mind before selecting a built-in cabinet for the Living room. The bar should be at least 1'high for large bottles. Then there should be a shelf for glasses also. This shelf must have a rim to keep the glasses from slipping. This should be covered with laminate or granite. If this built-in-cabinet structure is attached to wall, cane or metal furniture can provide extra seating.
