With the economic downturn resulting in harsh job reductions, making an impact on your prospective recruiter at an interview is important. Here are few tips on how you can score high at your next interview:
Do not use excessive hand gestures
Many people are quite nervous about the outcome of an interview which can trigger you to display extreme hand movements that often diverts the employer from what you're actually saying. While too high hand gestures look peculiar and wobbly, too low makes you appear weary and disheartened.
Dont be unprepared for the interview. Do not carry a crumpled look. Carry your jacket in a proper bag or in case if you have to cover a long distance then carry another shirt that is neatly ironed.
Dress conventionally and remember less is more. Do not try to show your funkiness during the interview. Conventionality might sound monotonous, but it's better to be on the safe side. Select colors like navy, white and black and pair them up with lighter shades as they represent honesty and professionalism.
Avoid French manicure with long nails to avoid that shabby look.
Make sure that the handshake is a firm one. A soft handshake signifies lack of confidence.
Do not come with a plastic bag as it looks messy and vague.
